Despite the fact that I already didn't like Abel going into this story because of how he was portrayed by Brooklyn Cross in his brother's book, I found T.L. Hodel's writing slightly milder and goofier. Don't get me wrong, it's still twisted and wrong on so many levels. The basement torture scenes are truly revolting, definitely not something that could appeal to a reader. I was curious though how perfectly innocent Aspen would turn out to be in a pair with twisted violent Abel and what their relationship dynamic would be.
What was funny is all the facts that Aspen just randomly stated and some of the Abel's inner monologues and the things he spewed out. Otherwise, Abel is a really crazy narcissistic asshole who annoyed me more other than not.
Unfortunately, Abel's interest in Aspen was shallow and I didn't believe it at all. Whereas Cain and Kirby's interactions were so intense and wired, I was very much invested to know how they would end up fairing, Abel and Aspen are just flat and there was nothing that could even suggest they could make it work in any way. It was all so rushed, the book was almost two times smaller than the first one, but because I doubt I would've liked it anyway even if it was longer, I consider it a blessing.
One last thing, even though I usually just ignore this, but why did this book have so many mistakes and typos is it. It got to the point where some of the sentences didn't make sense. It definitely needs to be proofread.
