The Midnight Star

If I’ve learned anything from my past and my present, it’s the power of fear. You can give your subjects all the generosity in the world, and still they will demand more. But those who are afraid don’t fight back. I know this well enough.

After she was gone, I sheathed her sword at my belt, draped her cloak over my shoulders, carried her heart in my arms, and, somehow, went on.

This was my goal from the beginning, to save myself under the guise of saving the world. I spent my entire life fighting for my welfare and power, destroying in order to make it happen. I wanted to live. I still want to live.
But I don`t want to live as I had.

You cannot harden your heart to the future just because of your past. You cannot use cruelty against yourself to justify cruelty to others.

Tragedy follows those who cannot accept their true destiny.

One heroic act doesn`t make a man trustworthy.

I am their queen. The malfettos, the malformed, the marked. I give them what they want, and they give me their loyalty.

Enemies arise from unexpected places.

I will tolerate nothing less than your loyalty.

Do not take advantage of my generosity, and I will not take advantage of your weakness.
