  This idea was a crazy one - to read "Light Boxes" in English. I've just realized, that February is so close to me, that i need to make a step into the true, the native English-written dimension of the main character.
  I wasn't disappointed at all. The language of the book is quite an easy one, so u feel like u`re reading an old fairytale, maybe even a legend. The child-like phrases and short sentences make this book suitable for children, whose fantasy is always able to create sandcastles of nothing. But the story is still for adults. The Good here doesn't conquer the Evil. " I want to be a good person, but I’m not.", do u remember? He IS a good person, but his story is not told. And never will be. We read about Thaddeus, Bianca, Selah, the town. But what do we know about February?
  

  
  His hair hadn’t been cut in over six months. It was a mess of brown waves and curls, a dingy mat growing down the back of his neck that embarrassed her when she brought him around her friends. His job at a local store, where he had been working for over two years without a decent raise, was going nowhere. He didn’t own a vehicle like other men, because he couldn’t afford one. Instead he rode his bike to work each day and didn’t object when the girl who smelled of honey and smoke’s parents offered to buy them a vehicle. He couldn’t afford an apartment, so he lived in his parents’ basement,...etc

  And he loves the girl who smells of honey and smoke. That is all. We have a general feeling of sadness, but why is February so sad? Why does he always feel like he's losing his girl? His sadness is a consequence, then, what is the reason of it? No idea.
  It`s like the neverending hell - to live that way. So, the only character of the book i feel sorry to is February. He was hated by all the people, betrayed by his love and killed by Thaddeus.
  All the citizens have always annoyed me. I hate Caldor Clemens and the War Effort. I can't stand Thaddeus with his "beautiful" sadness and stupid attempts to fight himself.
  My story is another one.
  Bianca is kidnapped, killed and buried at the edge of the town. Selah will never dive out оf a frozen river. Thaddeus died because of pneumonia. The Solution is never able to fly again. People will never see the Sun.
  In my story, February wins.
