Destroy All Monsters

“I used to be so scared of the woods,” I said. “Anything at all could come out of them.”
   “Only animals,” Solomon whispered, and it was like he wasn’t really there. “The real monsters—they’re all human.”

Humans are so strange like that. When we don’t want to see something, we just don’t see it. Or we tell ourselves it’s something else. That’s pretty much an essential part of how we survive in this world.
