Чудовище

A beautiful thing is precious, no matter the price. Those who do not know how to see the precious things in life will never be happy.

But like all dreamers, I went along. What else could I do since I wasn't waking up?

I guess that's not really practical, huh? I mean, it is easier to go to the movies and stuff with your boyfriend if it's...um, not a news event.

The roof was flat with a ledge around it, so we could walk. The sun was rising. New York City at sunrise is one of the most beautiful places in the world. People make a big deal about the skyline, but it's nothing like watching the pink sun seep through the buildings, especially when you're holding hands with the girl you love.

"I knew." My stomach hurt where the bullet was. "I knew by..." Magic. Love. Animal instinct. As Jane knew of Rochester. "I just knew." I reached for her.

It was her voice. I would have known it even if a hundred years had passed.

Of course, maybe I'd end up like one of those crazy old people with, like, sixty cats. And one day, the neighbors would complain about the smell, and it would turn out I'd died and the cats had eaten me.
Still, it might be nice to have a cat. As long as it didn't dig in my roses.

The disastrous result only showed that they needed me. It was nice to be needed

Of course, really, I really, really hoped she'd say, "Oh, no, Adrian, I couldn't dream of leaving you. I love you too much. But it was so sweet and unselfish of you to let me go that I think I'll kiss you." And then we'd kiss and the curse would be broken, and I'd have her forever. Which was what I really wanted, to be with her forever.

"I'm letting her go," I told Kendra in the mirror.
