Он говорил то, о чем говорить не стоило.

The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy; they are deliberate exercises in doublethink.

We are the dead. Our only true life is in the future. We shall take part in it as handfuls of dust and splinters of bone.

He had the sensation of stepping into the dampness of a grave, and it was not much better because he had always known that the grave was there and waiting for him.

It was as though they were intentionally stepping nearer to their graves.

She seemed to think it just as natural that ’they’ should want to rob you of your pleasures as that you should want to avoid being caught.

There was a certain fitness in this, since her own husband had been vaporized a couple of years earlier.

The Ministry of Truth, which concerned itself with news, entertainment, education, and the fine arts. The Ministry of Peace, which concerned itself with war. The Ministry of Love, which maintained law and order. And the Ministry of Plenty, which was responsible for economic affairs. Their names, in Newspeak: Minitrue, Minipax, Miniluv, and Miniplenty
