The story tells of a man trying to lose some weigh by exercising on a stationary bike. The bike faces a mural with workmen on their shift. The supernatural begins as the workmen begin to talk to our protagonist …
This story stroke me with original concept (objectively, maybe it’s not, don’t come for me), a good symbolism of responsibilities and self-responsibility, and the effects of psychic pressure. Maybe I am too introvert of a person, but I have never thought of other people, imaginary or not, while working out. Thus, the protagonist thinking of other people is indeed an original and unexpected concept to me. Someone’s livelihood depending on you doing a specific unpleasant thing, however, is a common trope. So, the verdict comes to how well does the author demonstrates and then spins the horror elements. And in my opinion, he does this brilliantly in this story. I was rather scared and positively entertained.
