The characters are not developed at all. But you remember them from book one, don’t you? I don’t. I read that thing decades ago. I don’t really care.
It could have been maybe kinda sorta interesting to read about the immediate aftermath of The Firm, but it’s 15 years later. The story of book 1 and its aftermath are told in one of the most awkward flashback contexts ever.
The story of the kidnapping - with people dying, international politics involved, lives at stake - is mindnumbingly boring. It is mostly told through people sitting through board meetings, flying on private jets, and hiding in luxury mansions. Such fun. Much excitement. Wow.
You won’t miss anything if you skip this one, unless you’re aiming to read all the Grisham books.
