This was good! Got a bit too messy with some things, and some stuff was a bit overexplained, so it’s not 5 stars - but still pretty good.
None of the characters are good people, but mostly entertainingly so, and with some nuance. Like, Adam is a scumbag, but I couldn’t help but agree with him about Chloe.
I think the plot was well put together and I enjoyed watching it unravel with all its little twists and details.
The plot line of Chloe’s past seemed a bit too excessive to me. I don’t think she needed to be made more sympathetic and more of a perfect victim. She’s a weirdo, she has her flaws, and it’s fine - the ending makes things a bit too saccharine, giving her a tragic past and then wrapping the present events in a neat happy bow. I don’t hate happy ending, but it just seemed excessive here.
I did enjoy watching the bad guys getting what they deserved in some form, and also the non-perfectness of the murders - it’s kind of annoying in some books how amateurs pull everything off perfectly.
Overall, a dynamic and suspenseful thriller with a mostly satisfying ending.
