I really liked about 2/3s of the book - and then it went off the rails, and not in a fun way.

There were so many things that pulled me in: the writing, the pacing, the MC being a fascinating mix of despicable, pathetic, and relatable. I was mesmerised by June digging her metaphorical grave deeper and deeper, like watching a car crash and not being able to turn away.

But then it just goes meandering and peters out to hardly anything. The metaphorical grave ends up being a couple of feet deep at most and the MC just kind of lies in it for a bit. The very ending is really vague and really unsatisfactory.

I still had a lot of fun with this book, and I think the writing is really good, so overall it is still a very good read.
