They Never Learn
Лэйн Фарго
Jocelyn_Phoenix7 июля 2025 г.It's fine. I really liked the main idea: a female serial killer, full of femenine rage, kills rapists. But that's all it is and very often not even that.
It's a bit short on rage. The MC is calm and calculating and the whole narration is a tad too dry, verging on a report on the events. Showing us the MC's past, the author seems to be saying that she snapped because of what happened to her and her friend, but this girl who snapped and the cold and meticulous adult MC are like two different people.
It's a bit short on serial killing. The MC keeps saying that she killed so many men in this town alone (which is apparently rapist central), but we see her do very little actual killing, and most of it badly, which begs the question how she hasn't been caught yet.
The MC is very much a "not like other girls" stereotype and, apparently, it's okay if she does the same things that nasty rapey dudes do: stalking her friend, objectifying her, sleeping with a much younger subordinate at work...
Overall, it's a solid and decently paced story, but not really thrilling, and the sugary happy ending wrapped in a neat bow was kinda annoying.
