Jocelyn_Phoenix9 июня 2025I did not like this. The book is slow in a bad way, meandering, rather boring (for me, only Evelyne's story had some interest) and pointless. The twist at the end, while explaining some of the things, actually makes the whole thing even more pointless.
The author can put his words together in a way that makes them sound quite goood. But that was about it.
The way the book depicts AI is as if AI was asked to explain itself to a kid: surface-level and generic, with nothing new or interesting or innovative or deep to say - which is a big con for a book about AI written in 2024.
The ocean part of the story is a very by the book "bad humans ruin nature" thing - and is utterly pointless as most of it isn't even real in the book's world.
I probably should have dnfed it.
