This book is not bad and it has some interesting ideas - but a lot of them are barely developed, sometimes just mentioned briefly, and it makes the whole thing feel rather surface-level and incomplete.

At first I even kind of liked it - "hey, the author is not putting thoughts inside my head but giving me space to form my own ideas", - but then the whole book was like this and it is barely any different from reading an article or a blog post featuring the topic.

We get very little or very vague feedback from Mickey7 himself. "Did you know that dying horrifically again and again is hard?" Well, duh. I could imagine that having read the synopsis of the book. But how did it affect Mickey specifically? How did it change him? How did it make him feel? We barely get any answers to these and other questions.

The fact that Mickey's reactions to so many things are very meh makes the whole book feel rather meh as well.

The appearance of Mickey8 doesn't feel impactful at all. 7 and 8 spend a lot of time bickering and trying to hide (poorly) the fact that they are a multiple, then have a threesome with their girlfriend, and then it's over. But the psychological, philosophical, and other implications of the two of them existing at the same time are barely explored.

Feels like it could have been a better read if it was just as vague but shorter, or longer but with more fleshed out themes.

Overall, it was quite interesting and I enjoyed thinking over some of the ideas, but the vagueness and lack of emotion was frustrating.
