The Deal

"The Deal" by Elle Kennedy is a contemporary romance novel that follows the story of Garrett Graham, a popular hockey player and womanizer, and Hannah Wells, a talented musician and sweet girl. When their paths cross, they strike a deal: Hannah will help Garrett improve his grades, and he will assist her in catching the attention of her crush.
Unfortunately, my expectations for this book were not met. I had hoped for a story similar to "Love Hypothesis," but "The Deal" turned out to be quite different. Right from the start, I noticed numerous clichés and the objectification of women. The plot felt predictable, and it seemed that the narrative relied heavily on explicit sexual scenes rather than developing a compelling storyline. As a result, the characters felt unimpressive and lacked depth.
While reading "The Deal," I couldn't shake the feeling that I had encountered similar stories with a familiar plot before. This book fails to stand out among others in its genre, and it certainly cannot be considered the best of its kind. Personally, I have no intention of continuing with the author's other books based on my experience with this one.
Overall, "The Deal" did not live up to my expectations. It offers a predictable plot, clichéd elements, and an excessive focus on sexual encounters. Readers seeking a more unique and well-rounded romance story may want to explore other options.
