It reminds me of one book and character that already existed in the world literature – Anne Shirley, the main character of the first book of the cycle "Anne of Green Gables". Both of the girls are the flash of bright positive energy. So, Polyanna isn't unique but she does what she does intentionally, knowingly, consciousnessly which makes her child with wise mature attitude to life.
Why waste time? Let's get happy! Let's pretend to be happy in spite of all the bullshit in this world. All the people around need this warm energy emitted by positive people. No matter how great and cool you are, your life will be finally measured by all your good deeds and good influence on the people.
The attitude to life practised by Polyanna is very energy-consuming. It may sound like hypocrisy for someone. Better name of it will be "game". Don't be serious, just play!
