To those who have some background knowledge this book can relate a very enchanting story of how the present age of technology came about. From the very first employment of a processor in a consumer product to the age when kettles and multicookers come equipped with them. An it's an amazing story, too.
What I don't like about history books is that they are way too general and objective. They just don't get stuck so well in your memory. This book has a central figure, of course, it's a biography after all. And it brings the history much closer to you, makes it much easier to remember.
I've always been interested in this particular sphere. And it resulted that the hi-tech companies were all there, competing, exchanging, developing and interacting with each other on a thousand different levels. I won't be naming the companies, there are too many. Basically, all the big names that one can hope to see.
The biography itself wasn't exactly secondary for me, it seemed more a part of the bigger picture. Steve Jobs is a historical figure, and I'm not trying to praise him now. That's a simple fact.
At the beginning I felt strong dislike for this person. Come on, a supposed genius doesn't know as much about technology as his friend Voz, believes in fad diets, doesn't shower and is unreasonably cruel with his closest associates. And he can't control himself. I was a bit disappointed.
He went through a lot and he improved, but all his personal traits stayed with him. His legendary charisma kind of touched me through this book and the dislike went away in the end.
And I'll repeat that it has been a great story.5 понравилось
