cat_on_the_shelf29 января 2018"Oah, we meet again. Where you go now?" he asked. When Thais greeted each other, they didn't say, "How are you" the way Westerners do. They said, "Where are you going?" One was not supposed to answer with geographic details any more than English speakers were supposed to give health particulars. The Thai equivalent to "Fine, thanks" was to make a directional motion with the chin and go on to another subject. As someone who hadn't been raised with this custom, I found it hard not to say where I am going.
