Great War Diary 1914-1916

Margo Asquith
Presented here are the diaries kept by Margot Asquith—the wife of H. H. Asquith, the British Prime Minister from 1908 to 1916—from the out-break of the First World War in August 1914 until her husband’s departure from office in December 1916. These years were as catastrophic for the Asquiths as for British society at large, and Margot offers a unique perspective of H. H. Asquith as a wartime Premier, seen through his marriage.
