This was incredible.
This book has both style and substance. It’s a masterfully crafted tapestry of reality and dreams, past and present, history and myths.
It is both surprisingly violent and surprisingly gentle. It has villains who deserve some sympathy and heroes committing villainous acts.
The way thoughts and feelings of different characters are incorporated into the story at first seemed just another interesting addition to the way the story told - but it then becomes so much more.
The book begins in a small and intimate setting and ends in events of epic proportions.
It is somewhat slow and descriptive, but it worked well here for me.
Overall, a great book I was almost sure I’d like but didn’t expect to enjoy THIS much.
