First off, I am a devoted fan, so this review is bound to be a tad biased. Nontheless, the long-awaited memoir of the songstress is astounding and full of revelations unexpected by general public. The esteemed "diva" takes the reader along the bumpy road of her life. We see the real Mariah Carey. She appears to be fully exposed and vulnerable, severely traumatized by the events in her life (dysfunctional family, being mixed raced and subsequently bullied upon, getting married to oppressive and controlling Tommy Motolla, being a cash cow for her family, etc.), the best selling female artist of all time perseveres, making it through the rain and coming out even stronger.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone who thinks Mariah Carey is a pretentious diva incapable of being real and human. You will see the famous singer in a totally different light, discover that she's actually a down-to-earth person with a god-given talent and a well-deserved fortune. Her diva act is, well, just an act.
