Printed for Henrie Tomes, and are to be sould at his shop at Graies Inne Gate in Holborne. 1605.” That was the original title-page of the book now in the reader’s hand — a living book that led the way to a new world of thought.Читать далееПопробуйте доказать королю и всему миру, что "Знание-сила", что будущее за научным прогрессом, что надо учиться, учиться и учиться, а заодно разработать классификацию и методологию всех существующих наук, областей знания, раскритиковав все и всяческие суеверия и предрассудки.
Бэкон сделалал все это, и сделал блестяще, в этом монументальном труде, который, как и следовало ожидать, посвятил королю.
Читать нелегко, тем более, что очень много латыни, но до чего же интересно, и как мастерски Бэкон сводит все к знанию, наукам, прогрессу. Знаменитое выражение "Знание-сила" - это именно у Бэкона.
А еще мне не совсем понятно, почему его решили в какой-то момент путать с Шекспиром, я читала все у Шекспира, и практически все у Бэкона, оба гениальны, но стиль-то совершенно разный, по-моему.

But further, it is an assured truth, and a conclusion of experience, that a little or superficial knowledge of philosophy may incline the mind of men to atheism, but a further proceeding therein doth bring the mind back again to religion.
