Just brilliant
Here I'dlike to say about the book in general – the mixture of the short novels it'sjust a masterpiece!
Normally weare accustomed that Frederick Forsyth writes crime stories, of political crimestories. But it the book there are several different genres, which makes itvery attractive to read not only by FF fans, but also other readers. So, I put some lines about each of them

The Veteran
Here is a story about the veteran from some war actions, who with several colleaguesfought against an army somewhere in the east. But that was his past. In thebook he gets killed by some thugs. Andall book is about how they were caught and prosecuted. Frankly speaking, thependulum of my comprehension was swaying from side to side until veryfinal. I've got carried away by theplot.
The art of the matter
This brilliantstory is about one guy, whose job was to evaluate the old canvases. He was unfairlyfired. He did his job well, but the turncoat boss got all the profit from hiswork and blamed the guy for the wrong estimation. The picture he estimated likesomething unique but the boss forged all report, and staged a auction to sellit for the price hundred times higher.
And here Frederick Forsyth constructs the nicest and deliberate way of revenge whichwas delivered to the auction house and to the people involved in the felony. Itinvolves disguise, intriguing tricks, cunning forgery, courage, and using computerknowledge of the high level hacker, and of cause good portion of humor. Finally, avengers succeeded. To know how theydid it, just read the book.
The miracle
A really greatstory. Twisted in a way that I even started to believe that described story istrue. But it the end there is a surprise for the readers and a regret simultaneously.The story about the tourist, who went to Italian city Sienna to watch a paradeand annual celebration and were delayed by the former doctor who claims to be Germansurgeon in this city during the WWII.
The citizen.
Good story aboutthe drag trafficers. Untriguing, but in the middle of the story the half of thereaders will guess about who is the main trafficker. So did I. But still entreating,
Whispering wind
Whisperingwind is the name of indian girl, who was saved by one scout and who disappearedand appeared again 100 later and found his bride, his Whispering Wind. Storyincludes a lot of historical material ( I even checked them in Wikipedia), historicalevents and historical character. And it was mixed with fiction. Veryinteresting, including very interesting final.

Overall, in my hunble opinion, I can say that all short novels are brilliantprobably "The citizen" isn't at the samelevel as the others from this book.

Живая книга
Триллер в самом полном понимании этого жанра.
Читается на одном дыхании ,не оторваться! Ждешь, как же будет разворачиваться сюжет, покарают ли негодяев, удастся ли детективу распутать ниточку и вдруг!
Неожиданно, да куда там неожиданно, вообще, внезапно, что называется из-за угла, вдруг появляется.....
И восстанавливает справедливость в ее библейском понимании "око за око".
Чрезвычайно сильная книга

Справедливость против правосудия
Не так много авторов, книги которых читаешь с удовольствием. Форсайт один из них. "Ветеран" простая история(о смертельном избиении ветерана войны двумя хулиганами), а внимание читателя удерживает до последней строки. С учётом участников предварительного судебного прослушивания( кто есть кто) дела. Финал закономерен.
