Съездив на городской электричке в какой-нибудь из наиболее жутких и запущенных районов, можно понять чего именно не учел Ле Корбюзье, создавая свой проект нового города.
Например, он забыл, какие проблемы могут возникнуть, если всего один из 2699 твоих соседей устраивает шумное празднование или покупает себе огнестрельное оружие. Он забыл, какой тусклый вид приобретает железобетон в пасмурную погоду. Забыл, как неудобно бывает, если кто-то разжег в лифте костёр, а живете вы на сорок четвёртом этаже. Забыл и о том, что, хотя в городских трущобах есть много достойного ненависти, против планировки их улиц мы как раз ничего не имеем. Нам нравятся здания, которые образуют вокруг нас непрерывные линии и в окружении которых мы и на улице чувствуем свою защищённость, как будто находимся в помещении. Если мы видим, что здания в городе стоят и не редко, и не часто и высотки не гармонируют с окружающими зданиями, что-то начинает действовать нам на нервы. В такой обстановке мы не можем наслаждаться ни природой, ни жизнью большого города.
