She walked with a swagger that was half pop star and half western gunslinger.

I wish it were socially acceptable to walk up to strangers and say, 'Tell me your life story." Every time I see someone interesting, I just about die from curiousity. Luckily, there are so many boring people in this town that it`s rarely a problem.

She sighed inwardly and wished it were possible to have a conversation without the little power plays. The older vamps liked to make the younger ones ask for clarification. It confirmed the hierarchy of power and satisfied them in some obscure way. It was annoying.

"You`re just the whole package, aren`t you? Kind to kittens and puppies. Don`t park in the handicap spot. Never leave the toilet seat up. I`ll bet all the girls melt every time you walk by."
"That`s why I always carry a towel. Clean up the meltwater."
She laughed out loud and then instantly stopped as she realized she was laughing at a human`s wit. Surely this was a sign of a coming apocalypse.

You know I`m not the hero type. I prefer to personify the brooding, mysterious, and inherently unreliable archetype.

A brush with extinction does not excuse unladylike behaviour.

The teachers are not the big bad scary monsters. Take it from me, one of the big bad scary monsters.

Four hundred or so juniors in the class, minus whoever chooses not to attend the capitalist antifeminist peacock display of adolescent humanity. One hundred or so vampires, minus those who choose not to attend due to death, dismemberment, or insanity. We will have a true feast.

She surveyed herself: black leather corset top, lace skirt, knee-high boots. “It’s Goth.”
