What is history? What is religion? What are politics and society? Everything is created by human’s imagination – nations, countries, religions, money and many other things, that we think are absolute and infinite. In book Sapiens: A Brief history of humankind, author, an historian professor from Israel, wrote about many important things: history, politics, economy, culture, religion. But the main idea of this book – that throughout of his history, human always believed in things, that are imaginary. From the start of the history of Homo Sapiens, every human tribe try to explain every natural phenomenon’s, they created myths. Every phenomenon has its own mythological explanation – lightning, rain, snow, death, night and billions other things. With the development of science, human started to explain the same things by using scientific methods – to find out real reasons of phenomenon’s. But until the scientific revolution, the beginning of which is considered to be the 17th century, human all over the world, isn’t important where – America, Africa or Australia, they have their own explanation of everything, and the most amazing in this fact, that every society or civilization of this kind, existed and developed by hundreds or thousands years. And Harari in his book want to show us, that in the modern time, in modern societies, we believe in myths too, in his opinion we believe in other myths – politics, economy, law, human rights, but generally that myths don’t differ much from the ancient Greek or Egyptian myths. You can say, that now biggest part of people lives on rational basis, and it’s true, but, if you dig little more dipper, you can see that everything, what is important today is imaginary, or, in the other way, it is myth. Human rights – are myths, society is a myth, economy - is a myth. Why? Because they are based only on faith and trust. You can’t find human rights under microscope, or by using x-ray, because human rights are only imaginary conception, but for the sake of justice it is necessary to say, it’s very useful and utility myth. The same with other modern myths. And this quote from the book is saying everything: “There are no gods, no nations, no money and no human rights, except in our collective imagination”. At least, with the understanding, that human’s imagination can create such strong things, we have a hope, that in the future with using power of our imagination and science, human will build really good life, like a Utopia.
