  I expected so much more from this book. I hated the heroine from page one and only near the end, where she admitted her own personal weaknesses, was I able to garner a modicum of respect towards her. However, this wasn't enough to offset such a weak story.

  I do agree that the treatment of women in Gilead is atrocious and outrage is the only 'right' reaction to it. Yet, reading about it page after page, sentence after sentence... the feeling morphs from outrage to boredom around chapter 5 and only goes down from there.

  Yes, thank you, author, we noticed everything is sh*t in your world. Now isn't it about time to do something about it?

  The total lack of actions is what got to me most. While I totally understand that the absence of anything and everything to define yourself with or to make your life meaningful with was one of the problems that women experienced... I just can't condone such utter boredom in a literary work.

  Overall, I admit that the book raises some serious questions. However, personally, I believe it does so in a very inefficient manner.
