Here I Am
Jonathan Safran Foer
Asara13 июня 2017 г.That was good, unexpectedly good! Reading the book and suddenly feeling exposed to something much bigger than just a story about family - only JSF knows how do it. The book combines two of my greatest fears actually: family where nobody actually tries to connect and Israel collapsing, so reading it brought me into looking at myself in the mirror all the time, learning stuff about myself and those around me - and that is what basically defines great fiction. Nevertheless I won't say that Here I Am is as universal as Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - it has too much to do with Jewish/Israeli identity, in my opinion. Definitely will read it one more time and recommend to anyone interested in the identity thing. [the review is probably too cold and short for such a book, but seriously, anything I'm trying to write here sounds boring next to this book]
