Дьявол носит Prada
Лорен Вайсбергер
Аноним26 апреля 2016 г.I know it’s time to stop dragging my heels and finally write down all my thoughts about the book which has been tantalizing me for a half-year. If you’re reading my Twitter, you should already know of what exact book I’m talking about. Of cause, it’s “The Devi wears Prada” by Lauren Weisberger.
Briefly, I was really irritated by this book. And I literally can’t explain why.
Looking back, when I was 13 or 14 I had dreamed about working as a journalist and my mom gave me this book and told to read it. Who am I to argue with my mom? So, I read the book and was absolutely amazed by every single thing ranging from plot twists to main characters. The book seemed to me as something witty and funny, also full of worldly wisdom. In other words, I really enjoyed the book where the story about an ordinary girl who wanted to work as an editor in famous magazine was unfolded.
So, almost 5 years came and I were to reread “The Devil” because of my English classes at uni. Apprehending good time-spending and revisiting my excitements time after time, I lied on my coach and started reading. And had been yawning in a while.
Yes, 5 years came and I had changed a lot. Books that I’m reading also had changed. They had become more multi-faceted and profounder. And if in my childhood “The Devil” was something distinctive and unique for me, now I think that it’s just rubbish. Interesting enough, that the book wasn’t written for those who haven’t come out of age but I believe that “The Devil” wouldn’t be interesting for someone older than 18.
Talking about the plot, the story is set in “Runway” magazine office where is the main character Andrea started to work, and as you can guess from the book’s title, her boss – Miranda – is a real devil. But in my humble opinion the real devil here was Andrea. She didn’t love anyone; she was in her job and even forgot about best friends and parents’ existence. It wasn’t fair, especially in relation to Alex, her boyfriend, the single one positive character in whole book.
I adore Alex, his way of life, his sincerity and self-neglect, and how he behaved with his pupils. If I were a teacher, I would teach my students like Alex was teaching. What a pity that such adorable guy felt in love with such selfish girl as Andrea. If jack in love he’s no judge of jill’s beauty.
And you know what? Even though I despise the second part of “Devil” with a passion, I want to read the second part as the annotation sounds quite intriguingly. Who knows, maybe I’ll change my attitude towards Andrea and will turn a blind eye on how I hated her earlier.999
