Гарри Поттер и Кубок огня
Джоан Роулинг
Аноним10 ноября 2025 г.So far the best book of the series and you are feeling it from the get go
I've read around 30-40 pages of the book and felt like this is going to be the best book of the series so far.
Damn I was right
From first pages you are feeling that something special is coming
Something that will make you awe
From a little details
To a big scenery decision and plot twistsSo
The first 170 pages we all about the events that happened before the start of the school year
170
That's almost an entire Philosopher Stone book!
And I'll say this - ain't no way you can put everything that was in the book to the movie
There is just no way
And the movie makers were doomed to fail from the start yet they somehow did a decent job
But there should be 2 parts of the movie for sure with this insane amount of things that were in this bookAbout the book tho
Let's start from the beginning, shall we?
The first scenes about a mysterious Voldemort's house, all the background story of it
The description of Frank was just so mysterious and beautiful
You are definitely feeling that something odd is here yet it keeps you attached and intrigued all the way.The Entire World Cup was actually felt like something special
One of my issues with movie was that I hasn't really able to feel that the Quidditch World Cup was an actual special event for an entire Magical World but in book
Oh my god
I felt like I ACTUALLY was on Quidditch World Cup.
I was into the hype about Krum being a best seeker in the world
I was into Ireland being an amazing team
The road to it
Meeting a familiar faces
Getting all the hype from all those show-details like introductions of Mascots
It was surreal
Combine it with tension on the Top Block when Malfoy's family has arrived
it was something special
And Death Marks Landing and all the noise around it was pretty nervous but intriguing
Yeah, Fred and George were definitely onto something by the wayBut I haven't even started speaking about the Hogwarts itself, have I?
Yeeeeeeeeeah
This book is definitely special
The thing is
Hogwarts is still magical
Still amazing
Still beautiful
Still never fails to make me aweThe announcement of the Triwizard Cup
The arrival of Durmstrang and Beauxbatons and effect that it makes onto people
I actually fell in love with Fleur.
Just like Ron I guess
But deeper maybe
Dunno
I guess she is quarter-veela for a reason, right?
But flashing forward I'm glad to see both her and Victor being showed in much more details in the book, book in a good and a bad ways. You've barely left with any impression of them after the movie
Like, they exists
Fleur is beautiful
Victor is strong and lacks any emotional intelligence
That's it
But in books they've been explored much-much deeper and I'm happy for thatAlso this Ludo Bagman dude
In the middle of the book I was almost sure that he was a Death Eater because of the way he was trying to help Harry and how hard he was pushing it. Yet how the story of him turned out to be pretty unexpected to be honest. I had zero idea about his money troubles and was surprised that Fred and George blackmailed him because he owned them money. Also the entire elf-plot was pretty interesting to look at
the SPEW thing the Hermione made
Dobby's impact here is insanely important
Winky's existence is also was a good thing for me
The general elf's life and how it was described here was a cool thing to haveRemember when I've told you that the Quidditch World Cup felt actually like something special?
Same thing here with Yule Ball. In book it actually felt like a huge event. Everyone was staying for Christmas holidays at Hogwarts JUST to get to the Ball. it was so cool to see all the things around it, Hermione and Victor interactions, Hagrid and Madame Maxime as well, all the things around the Ball. And yeah
Rita Skeeter is still Rita Skeeter in this book
Maybe even more since you've find out that she was an unregistered animagus and can turn into beetle (holy)
Insanely weird thing and sometimes I find myself thinking that the Ministry of Magic can't control a thing here but it is what it is.I was actually happy to see the Moaning Myrtle back and here she has even more affect to the events and helping Harry to complete the second task. For some reason I adore her character and love every moment when she is present.
About the tasks itself
After the first task I thought that it was pretty different compared to book
but daaaaaaaamn
The more it goes
The bigger difference becomes
The fact that Dobby, not Neville brings gillyweed to Harry after Ron, Harry and Hermione's endless efforts to find a fitting spell was a sweat detail for me and I was happy to see it
All the things that happened underwater was also pretty intriguing for me
The fact that Harry could easily finish first but was worried about the hostages
The fact that the merpeople actually have some personality here and they are actually on Dumbledore's side
Everything about Harry helping out Victor to set Hermione free
And eventually turned out that this song doesn't meant what it actually says was actually a surprising note for me yet I've still felt that Harry did a great thing and it actually displays what kind of person he isThe third task felt actually much well-organized here. The fact that Hagrid brought his own creatures (we will talk about him later), the fact that this maze was grown for a lot of time felt like a serious task compared to pure chaos in movie. I was glad to see the eventual explanation of weird Victor's actions. He was under the Imperius Curse of Barty Crouch's junior and that's why he has used a Cruciatus Curse in attempt to neutralize Cedric.
And Fleur was also neutralized by him. Poor girl... Yet the entire maze events were completely different.
The fact that he used the Four-Point Spell (thanks, Hermione btw, who helped him to prepare a lot of spells and hexes for particularily this task) at the beginning was a game-changes. And all the obstacles that he faced, eventually less than he supposed to once again thanks to a fake Alastor Moody, were completely different. I remembered Sphinx task and it was a cool thing
but the key is
that they've met with Cedric multiple times and helped each other to keep going
and despite Harry's weird feelings towards him
mostly because of a Cho
eventually they've kinda boned here and it's suppose to be their getting together moment
especially their last fight against a Spider
Yet we all know that eventually happenedBefore we deep dive into Voldemort's rise I want to point out some important details
In the book you can clearly see why Snape thinks that Harry was stealing ingredients from his office. This entire scene of Harry's coming back from prefect's bathroom and him being stuck in stairs when Moody literally saved him was a weird yet funny one.
And the fact that Harry saw Barty Crouch (Junior as he found out at the end) on a Marauder's map was an insane thing to me. I was literally blown away by that and how Barty was so lucky that he got away with itIt's also great to see same classes and same teacher year after year unlike the movies. They've shown madam Sprout only in the Chamber of Secrets movie, I think, and it was sad. Here, however, you are seeing that professor Trelawney still predicting Harry's death, professor Sprout still doing here thing, but most importantly, it's cool to see Hagrid and his growth over time. The way he handled Rita's newspaper (yeah, Hagrid in books much more desperate than in movies) and eventually shown something amazing outside of screwts was a great thing to witness.
So here it comes
Voldemort rises again
It was actually a long story here, and I felt much more pain since there were so many cruel things that been showed throughout their meeting, let's put it that way.
The entire story of Voldemort's fall, how he tried to get his powers back
This Wormtail's arc, who betrayed his friends and came back to Voldemort to serve him.
Out of fear, but still
An entire Death Eaters arc when Voldemort eventually put a Cruciatus curse on of them.
And to be fair I've actually felt that Voldemort is not sure if he's stronger than Harry. It feels like he is trying to prove it to himself instead of showing it to others.
Yet Cruciatus curse on Harry itself was a harsh detail
What happened during their duel tho
It was just beautiful despite it being presented as a duel for life
The Phoenix song
I swear I feel so convinced that Dumbledore was the greatest wizard that even Voldemort was scared of him even in those details. What happened after it tho
The entire plot of Harry feeling the same about Dumbledore as me when he stupefied fake Moody
The Veritaserum use for Barty Crouch
And his entire story which gives a goosebumps when he is starting to feel more and more joyful whenever he is talking about the plans of getting Voldemort back. But first of
The note about the Barty Crouch Sr.
I felt some sort of a sympathy after the movie towards him.
I've thought he was just a man seeking a justice and standart emotional-intelligence lacking type of a father.
Yet now I'm seeing that he actually was hating his son and doing an insane harm to him. Using an Imperial Curse on his own sun.
I mean
Maybe Ministry of Magic can't control a thing
but
That's straight up insanity.
There is no surprise why his son has tried to do everything completely opposite to him
And now i feel really bad about their relationships, you won't wish it even to your enemies.
But even outside of his family he damaged a memory of Bertha Jorkins just for his own good. I feel so sorry about her.And afterthat Cornelius Fudge...
Oh my God
Maybe those people are the main reason why the Ministry of Magic can't do a thing
This idiot
Yeah, sure
Pretend like never happen
Believe in Rita's Skeeter articles
What an idiot
I was so angry
Just like Sirius who has started to bark on him
It's amazing how Dumbledore is able to keep his cool
He has everything under his control and don't give a damn about a things that he can't effect
Wanna be wise like himBut speaking about Sirius
It was great to see his relationships with Harry throughout the book. How Harry was so worried and disturbed with the fact that he had to live on rats. How Sirius was some sort of a pillar that Harry could rely on.And yeah, I forgot
Billy and Charlie Weasleys! I was so happy to actually see them in action!
On a Quidditch World Cup
And outside of it
like Charlie bringing dragons for the first task and sending owl's to his mother to talk about Harry's success after it
or Bill visiting Harry on the third task
Bill especially, this rock-star
he is just like me
fresh slightly grunge guy
we would get along 100%Mr's Weasley being a mother for Harry
I mean who hasn't spoke about it already
Yet the fact that it was her with Bill who've decided to visit him at third task was such a surprising yet sweat moment.
And her getting so emotionally attached to him after what happened with him in the third task
Hugging him like a mum
I just can't
It's remarkableArthur is a great guy and I really love to see him explored much more in the books.
Fred and George with their dream about starting their shop. They are lovely
Percy tho........
Let's just skip him, all right? In the end
This booking was filled with so many
and I mean
SO MANY THINGS
that it's almost hard to believe that all those stuff happened in one year
feels surrealMaybe that's why I feel like this book is so special
