Well,
The first thing that immediately comes out for me is that I clearly love the fact that Fred and George are much more complex and multi layered characters in the books compared to movies. They are not just dumbs who likes to make fun out of everyone, they are showing their anger and frustration here and I really like it.I also like this entire plot of Hufflepuff and especially Justin believing that the Harry was the Heir of Slytherin, it feels so real on the book that you are actually curious how the things will eventually turned out about it.
i've heard an opinion that Gilderoy Lockhart is the funniest character ever in books. Well, from my money, the movie itself did a great job to portray him in a such a funny way. In the book you can just see an extension of his narcissism to the point that it feels like stupidity yet to be fair at some point you actually thinking that this guy is actually not completely aware about the all of the dept of the Magic World.
i've also liked a details that I've found out in the book - the fact that the dueling club was portrayed fully, with all the details of each pair was really good touch for me. Also the effect that Harry's parseltongue made onto everyone was really felt really powerful here. And also - Ravenclaw, welcome on a board! Here it's a complete and important player, so I would like to point it out.
I've also heard that the fact that Harry was took down Basilisk while being only on a second year is pretty underrated and I agree with it, yet it lowkey felt pretty easy. Another small details that here Tom emphases the fact that despite Basilisk being blinded, he could still SENSE Harry rather than simply HEAR compare to the movie.
The Death Day Party in Nearly Headless Nick was a pretty cool little thing, and the fact that Harry choices it over a Halloween feast once again showing the character of Harry.
And Nearly Headless Nick being a victim of Basilisk was pretty unexpected for me as well. And yeah... there's also a mention of a Vanishing Cabinet in here!
Well, overall I kinda think that the book is still has his beginning type of feeling yet at some points it actually starting to feel pretty serious.
It's doing a great job of keeping a rising tension in Hogwarts and during the reading sometimes I did find himself sensing this something evil that is about to happen.
Love it!
