The novel is more than just about love. It’s a man’s illusion about an ideal woman, for whom he desired to be with and devoted all his efforts to retrieve the past. Gatsby failed to realize the imperfections behind his imagination, and kept running towards his dream. He lived with an endless hope, and this hope accompanied him till the end.
To mention shortly about most visible characters, Tom Buchanan was that kind of an insensible man, whose ego was huge enough to control what belonged to him and at the same time granting himself an absolute freedom to act in any way he was willing to.
Daisy appeared to be very thoughtless; however all her decisions were favoring the side, which could provide more “stability” and shelter formed of material factor.
They were all that “careless people” and “rotten crowd” as Nick portrayed people of that period, who were lighthearted enough to pursue any means of moral consciousness.
I liked the book, even though I had watched the movie first. What I read justified my beliefs that people had never changed, on the contrary had remained largely the same despite the time. The book revealed the depth of a loving man’s heart and showed that hope has no distinct boundaries.
