Julietta_Vizer21 марта 2022 г.This book was waiting to be read long time ago. And now I can say it is really worth reading and is precious both for adults and teenagers. It makes you think over eternal and essentials truths: the importance to live and be happy at the very moment; the importance of being careful with time; the importance to see the things you are surrounded by; to penetrate in life, not being a passive observer.
While reading, you will find yourself in the summer of 1928, in imaginary small American Green Town. Through the eyes of the main character, 12-years old boy Douglas, you will be acquainted with many people and families from this town. They are all very different, with unique life stories. And, of, course, you will reflect upon the title of the novel. Dandelions – bright, yellow, sunny… symbolizing that every day and breeze of the summer, its energy, were saved in the bottles of dandelion wine.
And as usual, my collection of wise and authentic quotes from «Dandelion Wine»:

And then, when you turn seventy, you are always and for ever seventy. You are in the present, you’ve trapped in a young now or an old now but there is no other now to be seen.
Be what you re, bury what you are not. You are only you, you here, now – the present you,
War is never a winning thing, you just lose all the time, and the one who loses last asks for terms.
The average man runs helter-skelter the moment he finds anything like a brain in a lady.
“I've always known that the quality of love was the mind, even though the body sometimes refuses this knowledge. The body lives for itself. It lives only to feed and wait for the night. It's essentially nocturnal. But what of the mind which is born of the sun and must spend thousands of hours of a lifetime awake and aware?3119
