Аноним23 апреля 2021 г.A book that made me cry (tears of happiness)
Are there any depressed emokids in the room? Please raise your hands! Because I am one.
About 2 or 3 years ago at a colleague's housewarming party one of the guests told me that my perception of the world is way too negative and depressing. (I guess it still is. Maybe slightly less now given I read the book.) That was when he recommended that book to me and even sent me a PDF copy. That never worked because I just simply hate e-books. About 1,5 years ago I bought a paper book in Düsseldorf, but it had to wait for the emo-me to start reading it this year.
The first reason I liked this book: wonderful English. The editor did a great job!
The second reason: I realized that my life is not so miserable, that the world around me is not so miserable and moreover it is getting better! There is evidence in the book that proves it.
The third and my favorite reason: I loved that the author of the book tells about his mistakes and admits them. You have to be extremely courageous and self-critical to be able to do that, to cover that in a book that millions of people will read.
This book will tell you that this world is not as shitty as it may seem, that more and more people are getting vaccinated and schooled, that gender gap is decreasing, and that the things are on the brighter side in general.
Now, the tears of happiness. The author of the book died a couple of years ago, but I so wish he was still here. I really wonder what he would write or say about the current pandemic (pandemics are also mentioned in the book btw). I cried because it is sad to read about the person withering away and cause I'm emo, emos cry a lot, as you know, but also because he left us with something so important, this book that makes you realize yet again that this world is such a wonderful place to live.
