16 year old boy and all

The main character of "The Catcher in the rye" is a 16 year old boy who hates the world. He is clever and sarcastic. His jokes remind me Tony from "After life" series who lost his wife and there's nothing else to lose. Holden behave like an adult but he is a teenager who has no plan and a huge despair.

Holden is in that period of life when you have to "find yourself". He would like to be just the catcher in the rye -- stay at the edge of the cliff and catch kids that are horsing around if it's needed. He understands that it sounds crazy but still that is the only thing he would like to do.

    J. D. Salinger really often uses certain words, like phony, corny; and phrases, like [something] and all; boy, [reversed sentence].

This book is over popular and many people who have read it tell there is lack of plot and it is a dull story and all. But I think you need to be in a right mood to get a feel for it.
