  Беззубик не из тех, кто страдает в гордом одиночестве

  ух не ожидала я читать книгу про книги, да еще про борьбу за право читать.
  да вот детская книга оказалось с очень сильными посылом.

  Однако самое интересное в этой книге остаются изумительные иллюстрации. Это текст с высокой степени креолизации - поэтому читать я люблю в оригинале. Переводчики и верстальщики на русский конечно большие молодцы, но сама Керссида Коэлл еще больший молодец.

  Люблю её я также за тонкие аллюзии на реальный мир - то как правая рука клана смертоносных подавала вождю меч из набора, и комментарий в стиле комментатора гольфа.
  или ставки папы Иккинга и мама Камикадзе.
  глядя на задохлика Рыбьенога мне становится радостно за автора, который бережно отбирал говорящие имена. Учитывая то, что я недавно сходила на финальную часть кинотрилогии. снова словила когнитивный диссонанс увидев борова-Рыбьенога. а также более женственную девочка-викинга.
  хотя тут непонятно, где еще больший сексизм и стереотипы - баба-воин с большими простите, нагрудниками. i'm sorry but Camicaze's mom is called Big-Boobied Bertha, for god's sake. oops. for thor's sake!

  enyhow this book is a bright example of how to train you figurative language and how to write a fantasy novel for children. thre are no bad characters. no one wil die. almost no one will ger hurt. apart from librarian. But he have killed a lot of vikings whose only fault was their desire to read, though for that they had to steal a book from the library. But again the fault lise on those who banned erading. A thing need to think.

  and as i suffered immmensely in the library - i do agree with the translator. You do know that this book is translated from Dragonese?)

  again this series show to children that it's more important to be smart than strong, to have friends than acquintances an etc.

  for ex hiccap solves the conflict with help of words not swords.

  and even it taughts us some burglaring rules, though it's plausible that some moms will approve it. but i like it!

  over all it's a great fairy tale which is fascinating to read even for an adult. i enjoyed all consonanses - in the chief's name and Hiccup's whole title.

  the plot is simple but the form is fantastic.
  i do hope to have a physical in original some day. But unfortunately i found only the first one.

  these books have to be read in paper - the illustrations play a main role in this book.

  i leave with the last sentence grom the epilogue.

  but how do you know that dragons did not exist? we have never actually BEEN to the Dark Ages.
