  This is continue of the story Diana Wynne Jones - Dark Lord of Derkholm , but it has absolutely different mood. The two books share one world and characters but not strongly connected by a plot.
  In this book, author decided to put in focus Griffins. The youngest Griffin in the family, Elda, turned up to be a wizard, so she decided to go into magic university. She is the only Griffin on the course. Yet she is not the strangest student there.:)
  In the story we meet a lot of new interesting characters and learn about the future adventure of characters we have met in the previous book. Though this book is not so dynamic as the first one, it is very cozy. Also, there are pretty much romance in the end, that add some sweetness to the story.
  In my opinion «The Year of the Griffin" is perfect for someone who fell in love with Griffins from story "Dark Lord of Derkholm". It shows these magical creatures from a different angle and makes you love them even deeper.
