innashpitzberg18 мая 2017Living with women was one thing, writing about them another. Joyce conceived of his art as the overcoming of difficulties, and creating women characters was one of these. In print he does not belittle them. The example of his master Ibsen may have helped. He told his brother that Ibsen was the first writer who had led him to believe that women had a soul.
