They don’t need mouths because they communicate using thoughts, not speech. ‘I want to stay in my room,’ a young Saturnian thinks to his mother. His mother understands completely. She comprehends his meaning in a way that spoken Earth monosyllables could never replicate. She knows that he feels like having some time to himself – no need to ask if he’s okay or worry about him or leave booklets around the house.
