Первое - я рада, что прочитала в оригинале, хотя и было не просто.
1930-е годы - время, когда ужасы Первой мировой уже подзабыты, а вторая мировая ещё не началась. В этот момент на Лазурном берегу повстречались неназванная девушка (она же рассказчица) и Максим де Винтер, вдовец, жена которого погибла при загадочных обстоятельствах. Что их объединяет? Не так уж и много, но главное, что они полюбили друг друга. И понеслось! Свадьба, приезд в Мэндерли - чудесное имение Максима. А там всё дышит ей - Ребеккой, первой женой де Винтера.
Не буду врать, что всегда было читать интересно, местами затянуто и нудновато, но в целом - отличный роман с долей юмора, погружением в глубины человеческой души и т.д. При этом Дю Морье делает любопытную уловку. Несмотря на то, что живой Ребекка не разу не появляется, все же кажется, что ещё чуть-чуть и она восстанет из мертвых. Вот как сильна аура героини!
Для чтения в оригинале книга подойдет тем, кто хорошо владеет языком, выше среднего однозначно. Лексика в целом нормальная и удобноваримая, а грамматика сложновата.65185

Читать далееWell, this is the first acquaintance with Daphne du Maurier and I could tell that it was quite interesting journey.
At the first, if be honest, I expected something like a romance with notes of vanilla but as it turned out to a pretty intense thriller.
How does it usually happen? If there is a murder, then the killer is definitely to blame and that's the end of it. However not everything is so "simple" with the victim Rebecca, the author reveals the other side of the victim, her "impeccable" character and other accompanying charms according to her husband's words. Yes, undoubtedly this is not a reason to kill, if all people killed those they hate, there would be no people left in the world.
I like that Rebecca thought about herself until the end, she wanted to remain in people's memory very beautiful, young and healthy and not as sick and dull.
Of course, it was ugly to use her husband for this, but so to speak, she killed two birds with one stone in the literal sense of the words.
Of course, I may be wrong, but it seems to me that Maxim did not love our main character as a woman at the very beginning, he just protected her like a father. (Intersting fact that we still don't know her name, it's just not mentioned.)
When problems appears or when he thought a lot, he did not share his worries with her, but told her not to bother herself.
This is how children are usually protected from anxiety but she is his wife, not a daughter.
Afterwhile, he began to trust only when he was convinced of her loyalty and love (Let's admit that after all, she loved him more than he did.)
The end of the novel is still a dispute between readers.
